What is the difference between Ping and Traceroute?
Ping measures whether a server is reachable and its response time. Traceroute shows all intermediate routers (hops) a packet passes through to the destination and the latency at each, so you can pinpoint where the connection slows down or breaks.
Why doesn't my DNS change take effect immediately?
DNS records are cached by intermediate servers for the duration of their TTL (Time To Live), so changes can take minutes to hours to propagate worldwide. Use the DNS Lookup tool to check a record's current value instantly.
What does it mean when a port shows as closed?
It can mean no service is running on that port, a firewall is blocking access, or the service is down. The state of ports 80/443 for web and 25/465/587 for mail is critical for diagnosing access issues.
Why is Reverse DNS (PTR) important?
Mail servers expect the sending IP to have a valid PTR record. If the PTR is missing or wrong, your emails may be flagged as spam or rejected. Use the Reverse DNS tool to verify your IP's PTR record.
What does the SSL check verify?
It checks whether the SSL/TLS certificate is valid, its expiry date, which domains it covers and that the certificate chain is complete. Expired or misconfigured certificates cause browser warnings.
